1. What are coupons?

Coupons help you to collect more reviews by incentivizing your buyers to leave a review. The coupon code will be sent via email after the review is written. Imported reviews and reviews created by admin won't trigger coupon emails.

2. How to set up coupons

Step 1: Enable coupons

In your Judge.me admin dashboard, go to More > Settings > Rewards > Coupon Settings to enable coupons.

Step 2: Customize your coupon codes

Judge.me will generate coupon codes for you automatically. This feature is only available on Shopify. If you are on other platforms, check this article to learn how to add your static and dynamic coupons from external sources.

You can customize your coupon codes with the following options:

  • Generated coupon code: choose the name for your coupon code (THANKYOU by default)
  • Coupon discount: choose the % off or a fixed amount off
  • Minimum requirement: set a minimum purchase amount or a minimum quantity of items (in an order), or no requirement.

  • Customer eligibility and usage limit:
    • Customer eligibility: who can use the coupon (reviewers or anyone)
    • Once per customer: whether the coupon can be used once or multiple times
    • Usage limit: the maximum number of times a coupon can be used

Important note:

Coupon eligibility depends on our ability to find a customer ID matched with the email address. This setting will be skipped in cases where you don't have a customer ID for your reviewers. For example,

  • manually sending review requests (via CSV upload), or
  • unverified web reviews.
  • In cases where no customer ID is available, anyone will be able to use the generated coupon code (e.g. THANKYOU-1Y)

  • Coupon validity:
    • Set an expiration date (days) since the date your coupon was created. By default, coupons can be used forever.

Step 3: Set your reward conditions

Judge.me allows you to reward your reviewers based on the conditions below. Make sure to inform your buyers/visitors about these conditions so that they are incentivized but also not disappointed if they don't receive a reward in case they don't meet the conditions.

Reviewer Conditions

  • Any reviewer: Will issue a coupon for any qualified review. Independent of how many times he/she writes a review.
  • Verified buyers: Any reviewer which has bought a product on your store will receive a coupon for each qualified review. If the reviewer writes multiple reviews he/she will receive multiple coupons/rewards.
  • Buyers of the reviewed product only: Any reviewer which has bought the reviewed product will receive a coupon/reward for each review written. If the reviewer bought product A and reviews product B they will not receive a coupon. If they write multiple reviews for product A they will receive multiple coupons/rewards.
  • Reviewers requested by Judge.me: A coupon/reward will be issued only if the reviewer writes a review following our request, i.e. email/push/SMS requests. For each request only one review can be written, so only one coupon will be awarded per request. We will not issue a coupon if the review is not following our requests, i.e. the review is written on the web page.

Review Conditions

  • Any review
  • Any review with title and body filled in
  • Any review with at least one picture or video
