1. What is Google Shopping?
  2. How to display your products and reviews on Google Shopping

1. What is Google Shopping?

Google Shopping allows users to search for products on online shopping websites and compare prices between different vendors. By featuring your products on Google Shopping, you can attract more traffic to your online stores. One of the most effective ways to make your products stand out on Google Shopping is to include product reviews.

To be listed in Google Shopping, you have to satisfy these conditions:

  • Have a Google Merchant Center Account
  • Have Product Feeds and Product Reviews Feeds
  • Have Product Identifiers that can be used by Google to match your product with product reviews (e.g GTIN, MPN+brand name, SKU)
  • Have at least 50 eligible product reviews.
  • Product reviews from Google Shopping have to come from actual customers who purchased the products from your store. On the Google Merchant Center website, it specifically says that "Review feeds should be collected and owned by merchants. You must collect and own the reviews you share with Google." There are strict consequences for violating these terms, including being banned from Google, so we exclude any imported AliExpress reviews from the Google XML feed.

If you are on our Awesome plan ($15/month), you can access all Google Shopping features.

2. How to display your products and reviews on Google Shopping

Step 1: Create a Google Merchant Center

Step 2: Upload your Product Feeds

You can do it manually following this instruction or through an app such as Easy Google Shopping Feed by AdNabu, Feed for Google Shopping, and ShoppingFeeder. It will take roughly 10 business days for Google to approve your products.

Step 3: Generate the Google Product Review Feed in settings

  • Go to Settings > Advanced > Google Product Review Feed.
  • In Google Product Review Feed, set the bar to ON to enable your feed.
  • You can make changes to additional settings below, then click Save Settings.
  • To match your product reviews to your products, Google will use GTIN and metadata information such as SKU, Brand + MPN pairs, and product URLs. To do this, you need to (more details in this helpdesk article):
    • Use GTIN as a strong identifier across your product feed and your product reviews feed.
    • Use SKU as the value of the ID in the product reviews feed ( will do it using the information you provide in the Shopify Products Admin).
    • Create a product feed with SKU as item id.

Step 4: Sign up for Product Ratings

  • Next, fill in the number of reviews from 1 to 5 stars. You can check this information in Settings > Advanced > Google Product Review Feed > Review Feed Installation Info.

Step 5: Confirm as your 3rd aggregator service

After you submit your request, you will receive this email from Google. Please reply to approve as your 3rd aggregator service.

If everything is okay, Google will follow up with you, and the "Product Reviews" section is now available in your Merchant Center (left-hand menu).

Step 6: Upload your Product Reviews Feed to the Merchant Center

In your Merchant Center, go to Marketing > Product reviews > Click on the "Product reviews feeds" located on the upper right to create a new feed. Then fill out the information.

  • Mode = Standard
  • Type = Product reviews

Name and input method:

  • Feed name can be any, for example, " Review Feed XML"

  • Select Scheduled fetch

  • will update the XML feed file daily.
  • The feed file doesn't require a username/password.
  • Google will manually review your feed after the first submission, which can take from 2 to 4 weeks. The review process may require your support in correcting possible feed errors. Check some common topics raised by Google during the review process.
  • The product ratings will only appear online after the review process finishes successfully.
  • If everything is okay, Google will follow up with you via email. However, it may take 2 to 6 weeks for all your product reviews to show up in Google Shopping.
  • Example of confirmation email from Google:

I am happy to inform you that the Google Product Ratings feed for the store "{{your domain}}" has been successfully integrated into our system. Attached are the screenshots of some of your reviews currently live online on Google Shopping pages.
