Displaying Judge.me widgets with automatic default translations
Updated over a week ago

Are you looking to showcase your Judge.me widgets in multiple languages? By translating your Shopify store into various languages, you can enable our system to detect the locale of each translated store and automatically adjust the language of your widgets. For instance, if you've activated languages like French, Spanish, and Italian alongside the default English, changing your store's language to French will switch your widget language to French as well.

Note: Certain features are exclusively available on Judge.me's Awesome plan

Please note that our translation covers your widget-facing text, such as titles, buttons, review form fields, and more, across 38 available languages. If you wish to translate your review content, we recommend checking out our integration with Weglot.

To make this feature work, we do require some additional permissions, specifically access to price rules, locales, and translations. Don't worry; we'll request these permissions when you enable this feature for the first time.

Good news! This feature is available on the Forever Free plan. For those on the Awesome plan who have customized text alongside our automatic translation, your store's default language will use customized texts, while automatic translations will be applied to other translated languages.

However, please be aware that certain widget elements, such as Reviews Carousel titles, Floating Reviews Tab titles, Verified Reviews Counter, All Reviews Text, and more, may not fully support this feature.

Step 1: Publish translated languages in Shopify

  • Go to your Shopify Settings > Store Languages > Translated languages.

  • Click the Add language button. Choose a language from the drop-down menu, then click Add and Publish your languages.

  • We'll translate the Judge.me widgets by detecting the locales of your store languages. If you need to translate other parts of your store, such as product descriptions, please follow Shopify's comprehensive instructions for setting up a multi-language store and installing a Shopify translation app.

Step 2: Add extra permissions

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to General Settings > Account

  • Access the Multi-language store section

  • Click Enable permissions.

For other platforms

Go to Settings > Review Request > Timing and Format > Widget and Email Language.

  • Click Add extra permission.

  • To use this feature, kindly grant us permission to manage your price rules, locales, and translations. Then, click Update app.

Step 3: Check multi-language widgets

After publishing your translated languages, return to Language Info to view the list of languages into which your widgets will be automatically translated.

Note:

It may take up to 24 hours for your languages to be updated in Judge.me's settings after adding them in Shopify's language settings.

For other platforms

If you're using a Debut theme, you can switch among languages from the languages drop-down menu located in the footer. Other themes and their geolocation apps may have the language menu in different places.

With these steps completed, your widgets will be translated into the selected languages!
