Restricting web reviews
Updated yesterday

By default, anyone can post a review on your product page. While this can boost the number of reviews you get, it also opens the door to potential spammers or competitor-driven attacks.

To prevent this, you can limit who can leave a review and allow only actual buyers to review your products.

Web reviews restriction

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect reviews > Moderation > Review restriction > Web reviews

  • Select Only buyers who have received a review request email and API users.

This will hide the Write a review button for web visitors. Reviews can still be submitted through our review request emails or via API requests.

For other platforms

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Review Widget > Review Moderation > Web Reviews.

  • Enable Restrict review creation enabled.

Heavy restriction

For added protection against spammy automated reviews created through API requests, you can select the Only buyers who have received a review request email option.

For other platforms

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Review Widget > Review Moderation > Web Reviews > activate the Heavy Restriction feature.
