Configuring review request settings
Updated this week

Judge.me primarily gathers reviews through review request emails, which are sent automatically according to your settings. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of adjusting your review request settings.

For email template customization, please refer to our customization guide.

1. Set your sender email

By default, review requests are sent from [email protected]. However, you can personalize this email address and sender name to align with your business. To access these options:

  • From your Jugde.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Email Settings and click on Add custom email.

  • After adding your custom email address, click on Send confirmation email.

  • After adding the sender email, we recommend verifying DKIM and Return-Path to enhance email delivery rates. Note that email addresses from public domains like gmail.com and outlook.com cannot be verified due to limitations with our email provider, Postmark.

For other platforms

  • To set up sender email, go to Settings > Review Requests > Email Info.

2. Customize the review request timing

  • Timing plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of review requests. Sending them too early may lead to frustration, while waiting too long might cause customers to lose their initial excitement about your product. When deciding on the timing, consider factors such as your delivery time and the time customers need to form an opinion about your products.

  • You can adjust the timing under Collect Reviews > Schedule and Requests > Request Timing, which allows you to select a timing window from 0 to 60 days after order fulfillment or choose to send the request immediately when the order is created.

For other platforms

  • You can adjust the timing under Settings > Review Requests > Timing and Format > Request Timing.

3. Blocklist specific customers, products, or orders

Upgrade to the Awesome plan to unlock this feature.

From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Emails > Blocklist and unsubscribed emails.

  • On the free plan, you can blocklist specific emails from receiving requests Emails blocklist section.

  • For Awesome plan users, you have the additional capability to blocklist products, customers, and orders by tags. Product exclusion can also be managed directly in the Products dashboard.

For other platforms

  • On the free plan, you can blocklist specific emails from receiving requests by going to Settings > Review Requests > Conditions > Email blocklist.

  • For Awesome plan users, you have the additional capability to blocklist products, customers, and orders by tags. Product exclusion can also be managed directly in the Products dashboard.

4. Configure automatic reminders

Upgrade to the Awesome plan to unlock this feature.

  • For Awesome plan subscribers, we offer the option to send up to 3 reminder emails to prompt customers to leave reviews.

  • From your Judge.me admin, go to Collect Reviews > Schedule and Reminders > Automatic reminders.

  • If you wish to use a different template for these reminders, you can set up an email sequence.

  • Automatic reminders will not be sent if customers have already submitted reviews after receiving the initial review request. If you set more than one reminder, the next reminder will only be sent if there is any engagement (opened or clicked) with the previous emails.

Note: If you set the time interval between two reminders as (x) days, Judge.me will check the engagement after (x) days have passed. If (x) is longer than 7 days, we'll check it after 7 days.

For other platforms

  • To configure the automatic reminders, go to Settings > Review Requests > Timing and Format > Automatic Reminders.

5. Disable review requests

From your Jugde.me admin, go to Collect Review > Automatic requests > Request Timing

  • Uncheck the box for Domestic orders and/or International orders.

For other platforms

To disable review requests:

  • Access Judge.me admin.

  • Go to Settings > Review Requests > Conditions > Enable Requests.

  • Disable the settings for Domestic orders and/or International orders.

6. Our review request conditions

  • If you refund line items or edit orders to remove line items, we receive notifications from Shopify and skip review requests for those affected items. For order refunds, restocking is necessary for us to receive notifications.

  • Review requests are skipped if customers initiate order returns. In such cases, we may request additional permissions to access your returned orders, if not previously granted during installation.

  • To prevent excessive emails to a single recipient within a short timeframe, we avoid sending review requests to the same reviewer who has received a request for different orders in the past 7 days.

  • Please note that the submission link in each review request is valid for 45 days. After this period, a new review request must be sent, or reviewers can submit reviews via their reviewer's profile page.

7. Sending SMS review requests

For customers with phone numbers but no emails, you can integrate with SMSBump or SMS & Whatsapp Flow ConvertWay to send SMS review requests when SMS integration is enabled.
